Graduate Fashion Week 2013

On Monday, I had the great opportunity to go and volunteer for my University (Manchester Metropolitan University) at Graduate Fashion Week in Earls Court, London with my friend Josee (pictured in the second photo).

It was a great opportunity to network, see talented designers and look at courses different Universities had to offer.
I spent my day mainly on MMU's stand talking to people about the courses that the University offered, but I also got to walk around and explore all the stands and have the chance to see Nottingham Trent's graduate fashion show.

Obviously, my photos and video don't give it justice (iPhone 4 camera doesn't like white light!) but I was amazed at the pure talent that was on show. I had the opportunity with my course to do designing in the first and second year, but I wouldn't be able to create a few garments never mind beautiful detailed garments that were displayed at GFW!

The event was sponsored by George at ASDA who have a great graduate scheme and I even gave them my CV. So, George at ASDA if you're reading this I'm the Fabric Technologist!
I would really recommend going next year if you're a sixth form/college student who is interested in studying Fashion at University, a graduate who is looking for advice in your next big step in life or if you're passionate about fashion and want to see new talent!
Also if you have a student card it's free entry, you may even spot a few minor celebs such as Misha B, Hilary Alexander or well known blogger Susie Bubble

After the day ended we met up with our friend Femi, who is currently on placement with Puma in London for a drink and cheeky photo at Platform 9 and 3/4!
It was a great day overall, and would love to go again next year to see more shows.
Did you go to Graduate Fashion Week this year?

Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation

I LOVE this foundation, it suits my skin tone completely and does not look cakey at all.
The great thing about this foundation is that you only need a pea sized amount to cover redness and blemishes, but still have a light finish. It's also easy to build up coverage, especially on a night out when you need a bit more coverage.
I use the Real Techniques Buffing Brush with this, and like to finish it off with a dab of MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural, just to make it last through out the day.

I do advise depending on your skin type, be careful on using a primer. I used to moisturise then use Benefit Porefessional, but now I either moisturise or use a primer depending if it's a day or night look. I found using both a moisturiser and a primer, with a combination skin type, made the stay power shorter. However, it could be due to the types of moisturiser and primer not working together.

The price is a little high at £33, but I prefer to spend extra on a foundation that will last longer and not make me orange! So, I advise this to all my pale ladies out there!

Origins High-Potency Night-A-Mins Oil Free

Is it too early to say this might be a holy grail product? I've only been using it for a month!
Origins are well known for high performance skin care, without nasty chemicals and using natural ingredients.

Recently, the change over to Spring/Summer from Winter has made my skin go from normal/dry to more of a combination skin type. My skin suddenly went from needing a rich moisturiser to needing to cut out oil from my skin care regime, due to my oily T-Zone.

I was recommended Origins products, and was curious to find out more. A lovely lady in Boots Manchester, had suggested that this would be a great night cream due to the lack of oil.
Since using it after my cleansing and toning routine before bed, I've noticed that my skin feels softer and even looking plumper in the morning!
It's definitely controlled my T-Zone with the combination of a day moisturiser that is suitable.
The High -Potency Night-A-Mins moisturiser also does a with oil version for Normal to Dry skin as well.

It's loaded with minerals and Vitamin C, E and H, which is great if you're in your twenties like myself, and want to start caring for your skin before wrinkles appear!
It does have a zezty/orangey type smell, which I strangely light but if you aren't a fan of any smells, once the product has sunk in you can't smell it anymore.

The downside is that this moisturiser is £33, which is quite expensive! However, a small amount goes a long way, so I do think it is worth it!

Have you tried any Origins products? If so let me know! I'd love some recommendations!

Zara Shoe Obsession

Hey everyone!
I'm back blogging again, and developed a new obsession Zara shoes. Their spring-summer collection is so good, that I couldn't help spending my last student loan and birthday money on these three beauties (oops)!
At least I managed to buy shoes for all occasions, right?

What do you think of Zara's Spring-Summer collection?

M.I.A

Hi everyone!
Firstly I'd like to say thank you to those who still follow me and look at my blog.
I really enjoy blogging but lately I've had so much work to do with my final year at University, that I decided to give my blog a little break and concentrate on my studies.
My last exam is in May and hopefully I'll be at my graduation in July!
So, expect blogging to resume around May as I will have no more dissertation stress!

Lots of love,

September Joliebox

It's Joliebox time, yay!
It's like having a christmas every month, so I look forward to this time greatly.
Sorry this review is a bit late but being back in Manchester my Joliebox subscription is delivered to my parents house back in Derbyshire.
Luckily my lovely Mum sent it up to my house in Manchester, so lets begin!

I love... Face Mask
'A moisturising & reviving face mask with yummy fruit extracts for all skin types'

When I first saw that this product was for all skin types, I was quite confused. Could this be a miracle product?! My skin changes from normal to combination in most seasons and then mainly can be dry in the Winter.
I like the fact that it smells of coconut cos I am a sucker for anything coconut, but I was put off by the alcohol content as alcohol as we know is make the skin very dry.
However, I'll look forward to trying this later.

Redken Align 12 Protective Straightening Lotion
'This best selling lotion controls hair for naturally straight results, whilst providing heat protection and banishes frizz'

This product really jumped out for me, mainly cos its Redken which is a well known brand and that its a straightening lotion and I have been looking for ages for a good one as my hair is naturally curly/wavy and I like to straighten my hair a lot.
It is designed for medium hair and as my hair is long and thick it might not do the job as well but hopefully it will!
Really excited to try this out later and I love how much product you get for a tester!

Twistband Hair Tie
'A twistband to keep your pleats, buns and ponytails secured without leaving bumps in your hair afterwards'

I wasn't overly fussed about receiving this, when I tie my hair up I use any hair bobble I find lying around!
I tried these out and they are okay, its good that you can re tie them to suit your hair thickness or use them in different ways.
Not personally my favourite product this month but still a good idea.

Dr Bragi Bio Marine Exfoliant
'A marine based exfoliant to smooth, cleanse, brighten and renew tired skin'

I've never heard of Dr Bragi, but then I went on the Dr Bragi website and I was wowed by the products. The full size version of this product is £25 (however, Joliebox are offering a 20% discount) and has raving reviews.
Hopefully this will help get rid of my fake tan thats wearing off and it will be interesting to see how good this product is compared to my favourite Soap & Glory Breakfast Scrub!

Balmi Lip Balm
'A lip balm containing SPF 15 to moisturise your lips and provide protection from harmful UVA rays'

I have been waiting to try one of these for ages! I nearly bought one at Boots for £4 so I'm so glad I got one in a Joliebox!
Balmi is like the famous EOS lip balms that are sold in the USA and not in the UK though I think you can get them off websites.
The lip balm is not one of those that you have to dip your finger in, which I love!
I have the strawberry version and it smell so nice and really does moisturise my lips.
Definitely worth the price at Boots and comes in many different scents.

My favourite Blogger/YouTuber Sammi from Beauty Crush is in this months JolieMag!
Just thought to say a quick shout out as I love her and if it wasn't for one of her competitions, I wouldn't have a 12 year free subscription to Joliebox, so thank you!

What did you think to this months Joliebox? I personally think it was quite a good one!

Another Update...

Hi everyone!
So, I've been a bad blogger again, and I feel so bad as I love blogging but I have simply not had the funds to do any interesting posts (which isn't just a factor!).
I've also been busy moving back to Manchester to start my third and final year of University! I am getting older and its daunting!
I've had so much work given to me already, that I've been stressing.
But I've had a sit down, planned how I am going to schedule my work, my social life and my blog!
I've also spent a little A LOT of my student loan (woops) and actually have nice new clothes and new beauty products which I can't wait to share on here!

I hope you're all good and I really appreciate the followers I have on here still! This isn't a popular blog but just having one follower make me really appreciative! :D
